    POSITION SUMMARY

    In this role, you will manage the movement (receiving, handling, storing, sorting, picking and shipment) of hundreds of thousands of continuously changing products within the distribution center on-time and within quality standards and budgetary guidelines so that each campus grocery location has a consistent supply of quality food and general merchandise for our members.

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

    • Developing, implementing, and managing efficient, cost-effective methods of receiving, handling, sorting, storing, picking and dispatching food and general merchandise to multiple locations. Training staff on all such procedures to ensure a smooth workflow of product.

    • Develop production flow processes and identify process improvement and cost reduction strategies.

    • Establish and maintain operational procedures together with the Purchasing & Order Fulfilment Supervisor and for activities such as verifying incoming shipments, handling and disposition of product and ensuring it is rotated using the FIFO system.

    • Review and prepare workflows, staffing requirements, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service.

    • Develop operation plan for daily loads, communicate plan to supervisors and lead

    • Co-ordinate with the Logistics Manager load plans for individual trucks to ensure weight restrictions are met and special customer requests are accommodated.

    • Monitor and ensure the integrity of our products and ensures that food safety standards are met.

    • Ensure produce is culled, mini bulk pallets created, product sorted in quantities andtime frames required to meet customer needs.

    • Meet regularly with distribution center leads, Logistics Manager, Purchasing & Order Fulfilment Supervisor, and Inventory Specialist to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans for improving efficiency and customer service.

    • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and ensuring we comply with all Federal and State OSHA and HACC Pregulations and requirements.

    • Inspect equipment, tools, racking, facility and machinery regularly, and oversee generalmaintenance when necessary

    • Adhere to all budgetary guidelines and constraints while ensuring the distribution centeroperates in a profitable and safe manner.

    • Ensure security of the entire facility.

    • Responsible for development of distribution center supervisors and staff through trainingon policy & procedures, education by assisting in problem resolution when required andleading by example.

    • Create a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open and directworkforce to insure efficient workflow.

    • Foster a high-performance work environment with dignity, respect, compassion,collaboration, honesty and integrity at the forefront.

    • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, managing, and exiting distribution center personnel.

    • Supervise all heavy equipment and machinery use including pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.

    • Participating and/or leading all other department initiatives as needed.

    ESSENTIALS THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

    • Previous warehouse, grocery or logistics experience is required.

    • Strong communication skills and leadership skills.

    • Exceptionally detail oriented and able to multi-task effectively within a rapidly changing environment.

    • Positive attitude even in the face of adversity.

    • Effective decision making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.

    • Ability to communicate in more than one language.

    EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

    • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.

    • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

    • Ability to become forklift certified and become certified trainer of forklifts.

    • Ability to drive box trucks and similar vehicles.
