Job Title: Dispensing Technician

Job Description

The Dispensing Technician supports a high-volume, closed-door pharmacy by accurately filling daily prescription orders, maintaining medication inventory, and preparing all necessary documentation for delivery. This role focuses on behind-the-scenes pharmacy operations in a clean, technology-driven environment, offering predictable schedules and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Fill daily prescription orders, including punch cards, bulk items, over-the-counter medications, compounding, cassettes, and prepacks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare and process prescription refills according to established pharmacy procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Print daily orders for the pharmacy, ensuring all documentation is complete and organized for efficient workflow.
  • Print labels and delivery sheets for all outgoing prescriptions, verifying that information is correct and legible.
  • Stock and restock medication inventory, ensuring shelves and storage areas are properly organized and adequately supplied.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory control processes to prevent stockouts and minimize waste.
  • Follow all pharmacy regulations, internal policies, and standard operating procedures related to dispensing, packaging, and documentation.
  • Operate pharmacy fulfillment and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other pharmacy team members to support smooth and timely order fulfillment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, adhering to hygiene and safety standards in all aspects of medication handling.
  • Adapt to different shifts and workload demands, supporting consistent pharmacy operations throughout the day and evening.
  • Use pharmacy technology systems to manage orders, labels, and inventory, and report any issues or discrepancies promptly.

Essential Skills

  • Pharmacy technician experience, preferably 6 months or more in a pharmacy or dispensing environment.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician status in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Active pharmacy technician license and/or pharmacy technician certificate as required by state regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with prescription fulfillment, including dispensing, packaging, and prescription refills.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and inventory management practices.
  • Ability to work with pharmacy systems and technology to process orders, print labels, and manage inventory.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in filling prescriptions and preparing documentation.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including early morning, daytime, evening, and occasional weekends.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in retail or closed-door pharmacy settings such as large chain pharmacies is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with packaging processes and handling bulk medications and OTC products.
  • Comfort working in a technology-driven environment with modern pharmacy equipment.
  • Demonstrated reliability and consistency in following procedures and meeting productivity expectations.
  • Interest in professional growth and development within a growing organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy staff.

Work Environment

This role is based in a closed-door pharmacy environment focused on fulfillment rather than direct customer interaction. The facility maintains a large inventory of medications and uses very clean, modern equipment and technology to support operations. The atmosphere is laid-back and professional, with educated colleagues and a supportive culture that values growth and efficiency. The schedule includes three primary shifts-6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.-with occasional weekend work. Candidates should be flexible to work all three shifts as needed OR commit to the 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shift only. The schedule will be released minimum 2 weeks in advance. The environment is designed to be predictable, organized, and conducive to focused, detail-oriented work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgeville, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
