    General Summary:

    This employee performs a variety of skills in support of the NCEMS Communications Center; receives and dispatches emergency and non-emergency calls from the public EMS Personnel; participates in the work of a dispatcher/call taker and performs other duties as assigned.

    Assist with mental health transports, as needed.

    Essential Functions:

    • Demonstrates a customer focused attitude to serve clients of diverse backgrounds at all times.
    • Responsible for taking inbound calls, assessing and prioritizing the situation, and assigning and coordinating appropriate internal and external resources.
    • Manages both emergency and non-emergency calls using a high level of critical thinking and multi-tasking skills.
    • Completes required documentation needed to schedule ambulance and ambulette transfers.
    • Documents in the CAD system when required.
    • Assigns appropriate level of care of transportation based on the patient/client criteria.
    • Maintains patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
    • Maintains critical working relationships with community resources including Police, Fire, Life Flight, Hazmat, and internally with the North Central EMS team.
