Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing transportation and logistics company based in the Phoenix area, for a Dispatch Coordinator to keep their fleet moving safely and on schedule. Day to day, you will juggle a constantly shifting schedule, fielding calls from drivers, tracking loads in real time, and troubleshooting delays before they become bigger problems. Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatch schedules for drivers and delivery routes
- Communicate with drivers throughout their shifts to relay updates and resolve issues
- Track shipments in real time and update customers on delivery status
- Optimize routes to reduce fuel costs and improve on time delivery
- Maintain accurate records of driver hours, mileage, and load assignments
- Respond quickly to service disruptions such as breakdowns or delays
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics staff to ensure timely loading and unloading
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies
- Prepare daily dispatch reports for management review
- Build strong working relationships with drivers, vendors, and customers
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required, associate degree preferred
- Two or more years of experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation coordination
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and hours of service rules
- Proficiency with dispatch and fleet management software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on call shifts
- Familiarity with GPS tracking and route optimization tools
