    Position Title: Dispatch Clerk-Transportation Job Title: Dispatch Clerk-Transportation Function: Transportation Family: Operations

    Reports to: Director Pay Grade: N05 Terms of Employment:

    • 240 days per year.
    • At-Will employment agreement.
    • Salary is in the pay grade N05 on the Non- exempt SAISD Compensation Plan.
    • Entry hourly rate is at $18.00 with consideration for directly related experience. FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Funding Source: This position is locally funded.

    Position Summary

    Ensure the efficient operation of the Transportation Department and dispatch office.

    Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

    1. Dispatch district personnel to provide transportation services to all eligible students.
    2. Answering the phone and routing calls, taking accurate messages (if applicable) or redirecting calls to appropriate colleagues.
    3. Notifies supervisory personnel of any emergency situation or condition.
    4. Maintain and assist with operation of office equipment/machines as needed.
    5. Cross-train in other areas and other duties as assigned.
    6. Schedule meetings and appointments for administrative staff.
    7. Perform general office procedures including typing, filing, mail, duplication of materials, data processing, editing and general bookkeeping/recordkeeping.
    8. Assist with processing and dissemination of department reports, documents, as directed by administrator.
    9. Maintain general office files: save/store required documents per policy and administrative procedures.
    10. Initiate and complete accident/incident/other reports, as necessary.
    11. Participate in district and campus staff development programs that improve job related skills.
    12. Assist staff as needed.
    13. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.

    Minimum Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency.
    • 3 years of work-related experience.
    • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy.
    • Knowledge of routine office procedures to include customer service, telephone etiquette, efficient and effective filing and record keeping procedures.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must have high level of integrity regarding department records.
    • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team to provide assistance to department staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions with limited supervision.

    Working Conditions

    Work Environment:

    • Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
