    The HCA Healthcare ITG Director of Automation Delivery and Support is primarily responsible for driving the execution and delivery of high value enterprise automation solutions; as well as for the evaluation, selection, implementation, and support of enterprise automation technology and platforms. The Director uses their staff of automation engineers to define solutions for enterprise impacting automation ideas, develop those solutions using the appropriate technical framework, and provide ongoing support through the automations lifecycle. The Director uses their staff of system engineers and automation analysts to implement, support, and maintain enterprise automation platforms for use by an ever growing enterprise development community.

    The Director of Automation Delivery and Support defines, develops, coordinates, recommends, and implements how their teams will assist in achieving the goals and objectives of their assigned business line(s), overall ITG, and the company. They frequently meet with other ITG and Corporate department management, and may meet with company senior executives.

    The Director of Automation Delivery and Support:

    - Drives execution of the automation projects and technology within and across business unit engagements

    - Drives adoption of the company automation strategy and simplification processes

    - Maintains a working knowledge of automation goals related to the business lines supported

    - Maintains a current knowledge of the issues facing both information systems and healthcare industries

    - Routinely provides creative and innovative ideas and approaches that will improve the automation delivery and support of HCA Healthcare

    - Independently and in conjunction with other ITG or corporate departments, works to achieve company automation goals and to create platform and development standards and policies to refine the ability to reach and maintain said goals.

    - Ensures that functional area(s) deliver products and services effectively, develops its staff and capabilities, follows processes and standards, builds and expands relationships with key stakeholders, and plans and allocates resources to meet ITG goals

    Direct reports to this position may include:

    - All levels of Automation Analysts responsible for the support of Automation platforms, automation development initiatives, and support of the enterprise automation development community

    - All levels of Automation Engineers responsible for solution design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of enterprise automations

    - All levels of System Engineers responsible for implementing and supporting enterprise automation technologies and platforms to include public/private cloud, SAS, and on-prem implementations

    - All levels of Automation Architects responsible for evaluating and developing automation solutions, developing technical standards, setting corporate best practices, and providing technical guidance on automation

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Automation Development

    Direct strategic development, management and deployment of automation development across business lines

    Ensure application design to manage and maintain data security and integrity

    Ensures the utilization of software release management

    Deliver software, infrastructure and architecture that meets the needs of automation stakeholders

    Implement mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on all software development activities

    Ensure the on time and quality delivery of software development projects

    Develop and maintains internal and external IT support systems

    Create, implement and maintain a continuous improvement plan for automation development

    Drive consistent standards and approaches throughout the development teams

    Provide enterprise consultation on automation best practices and development

    Prepares specifications of a highly technical or complex nature.

    Engage ITG and corporate business functions in Process Improvement/Re-Engineering for the purposes of automation development

    Platform/Technology Enablement

    Bring innovative new ideas to solve complex technology problems

    Develops and executes on training and certification program for automation technology and platforms

    Maintains, monitors, and executes standards for automation platform use

    Serves as primary point of contact for automation technology and platforms

    Maintain and exceed operational targets, service-level agreements, schedules, quality or cost requirements

    Make long-term and short-term decisions in relation to platform/technology development strategies as they relate to the overall business strategy

    Perform reviews to ensure enterprise and architectural standards and processes are followed

    Review and analyze automation technology trends for application in the HCA Healthcare environment

    Deploy and evangelize new automation technologies across the enterprise

    Ensure the support of enterprise development community through engagement, development support, and platform availability

    Prepares specifications of a highly technical or complex nature.

    Manages costs and expenditures to department budget to include labor, contracts, vendors, and software

    Engage ITG and corporate business functions in technology evaluation, consultation, and investment decisions

    Staff Development and Management

    Conduct interviews and participate in hiring of new employees

    Conduct performance reviews, performance management interviews, career development, and coaching/mentoring activities

    Ensure routine training assessments and fulfilling activities

    Establish staffing goals and criteria for team

    Participate in building functional core competencies and disciplines to support the needs of the business

    Participate in resource planning, recruiting, and allocating resources to meet the demand of automation projects and intradepartmental efforts

    Identify internal training/staff development needs. Ensure ongoing training mechanisms are in place and ensure procurement of new resources to meet identified needs

    Lead efforts to develop and/or optimize existing processes and procedures

    Led efforts in aligning tactical and strategic efforts with business expectations in congruence with department guidelines and parameters

    Relationship Management and Interdepartmental Support

    Builds relationships and works closely with business lines, ITG development teams, ITG leaders, vendors, professional organizations, consultants, and staff

    Creates an environment that encourages information sharing, team-based resolutions, cross-training, and process improvement within the area managed to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and servant leadership

    Utilizes relationships and data analytics to ensure automation stakeholders have visibility into program health, customer challenges, and issue escalations with a goal towards raising the collective level of excellence

    Works with automation stakeholders to build community of practice focused on shared experiences and peer learning

    Maintains relationship with Lean Six-Sigma community and Process Innovation team for automation support and opportunities

    Incident Response and Communications

    Provide after-hours management on-call support including weekends and holidays as needed

    Provide management level support for situations involving critical service impact

    Provide oversight and technical expertise to staff and other business partners involved in the process of supporting high complexity or escalated issues.

    Participate in major events and/or large problem efforts between multiple divisions, vendors, and ITG resources

    Actively participate in and provide oversight to communications needs and expectations for customers and stakeholders

    What qualifications you will need:

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor’s Degree - Required

    EXPERIENCE

    7 or more years of experience in Relevant Work Experience - Required

    5 or more years of experience in Management - Required

    5 or more years of experience in Healthcare - Preferred

    5 or more years of experience in Information Technology - Preferred

    1 or more years of experience in Process Improvement - Preferred

    Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience could be considered

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING

    Six-Sigma Green Belt – Preferred
