Director, Surgical Services, Wolfson Children's Hospital
The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Surgical Services at Wolfson Children's Hospital. This position provides 24-hour accountability for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care across assigned surgical services. The Director leads the recruitment, orientation, management, development, and continued training of assigned personnel while ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care in alignment with Baptist Health's mission and standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide 24-hour leadership and accountability for Surgical Services operations and patient care delivery.
Direct the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care within assigned surgical units.
Recruit, interview, orient, manage, and provide ongoing training and development for assigned personnel.
Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, effective, and efficient patient care.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.
Manage resources effectively to support cost-effective operations while maintaining quality and patient safety.
Partner with physicians, nursing leadership, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to support surgical service-line goals.
Monitor operational and clinical performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensure nursing practice and patient care delivery are consistent with organizational policies, standards, and the health system's mission.
Experience Requirements:
3-5 years of experience in Surgical Services required
3-5 years of experience in Pediatrics required
Leadership experience required
Experience leading and developing nursing teams, including orientation, ongoing education, performance management, and professional development.
Demonstrated ability to oversee the delivery of safe, effective, efficient, and cost-conscious patient care.
Ability to assess operational needs, develop plans, implement strategies, and evaluate outcomes within a complex healthcare environment.
Education and Certification Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Association of OR Nurses (AORN) certification required
