Director Surgical Services

Reporting to the VP of Surgical Services, this director leads OR operations across 12 operating rooms supporting service lines including General, Spine, Orthopedics, Open Heart, and Neurosurgery, with a robotics platform that includes 2 Globus, 2 Mako, 1 Rosa, and 4 DaVinci systems. The director also partners with physicians and administrative leaders to enhance existing programs and identify opportunities for service line growth, while managing labor and operating expenses including supply utilization and cost-savings initiatives.

A Director of Surgical Services is needed at a 388-bed hospital in San Jose, CA, recognized with its 5th consecutive Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer and serving as a Primary Stroke Center.

The role. Reporting to the VP of Surgical Services, this director leads OR operations across 12 operating rooms supporting service lines including General, Spine, Orthopedics, Open Heart, and Neurosurgery, with a robotics platform that includes 2 Globus, 2 Mako, 1 Rosa, and 4 DaVinci systems. The director oversees a team of approximately 50–55 FTEs supported by 1 manager. Core responsibilities include driving evidence-based clinical practices and managing variation to improve efficiency and outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and overseeing patient throughput and resource management across surgical operations. The director also partners with physicians and administrative leaders to enhance existing programs and identify opportunities for service line growth, while managing labor and operating expenses including supply utilization and cost-savings initiatives.

What we're looking for.

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required
• Master's Degree Preferred
• 1+ years of recent leadership experience in Surgical Services Required (Director or Strong Manager level)
• 3+ years applicable Surgical Services experience Required

Schedule. Full time, days, with rotating weekends.

Compensation. $184, 683 - $276, 848 per year plus Incentive Bonus of Up To 17.5%
