A 420+ bed women's and children's hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a Director of Surgical Services. The hospital holds a Level IV NICU — the highest level of care for premature babies — and delivers more than 800 babies per month, more than any other hospital in Texas.

The role. Reporting through the administrative leadership team, the Director of Surgical Services holds full accountability for the clinical and operational performance of the surgical services department, including budget oversight, staffing, and regulatory compliance. The Director cultivates evidence-based clinical practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes while managing variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. A strong emphasis is placed on volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure high-quality, patient-centered surgical care. The Director partners with physicians and the administrative team to evaluate and develop service lines and identify opportunities for departmental growth. This leader is also responsible for talent development — attracting, coaching, and retaining staff — while maintaining effective labor management, including scheduling, productivity, and supply and equipment expense control.

What we're looking for.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 1+ years of recent leadership experience in Surgical Services as a Director or very strong Managerial experience required
  • 3+ years applicable Surgical Services experience required
