Summary:
The Director of Simulation and Immersive education provides leadership oversight for the simulation and immersive education department. The Director leads the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation and immersive education programs with the goal of improving quality and operational readiness in the organization. The Director ensures compliance with regulatory requirements through simulation and immersive learning for orientation, ongoing education, competency validation, and numerous clinical standards. The Director of Simulation and Immersive Education influences strategy and executes tactics, based on best practices and gap analysis, to drive a culture of continuous learning and development for team members across the system.
Responsibilities:
- Assists leader in planning future strategic development of the department. Sets goals and objectives and create programs to attain them. Assist with the preparation, analysis, monitoring, and evaluation of the operational and capital budgets, strategic plan and strategic marketing plan. Present creative strategies to foster cost benefit and revenue enhancement.
- Develops and implements new ideas and strategy to enhance the effectiveness of simulation and immersive learning programs, engages appropriate stakeholders including medical staff and clinical operations' leaders, and measures the impact of simulation and immersive education projects on clinical quality.
- Performs personnel management functions in collaboration with their leader and HR to include interviewing, hiring, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating and terminating employees; serve as mentor or role model to team members. Assists each team member with prioritizing responsibilities / activities to meet the needs of the customer using the institution's goals and strategic plan as guides.
- Establish, maintain, and direct consistent processes and practices that meet simulation accreditation requirements.
- Provide consultation for multidisciplinary leadership teams to develop evidence-based strategies for improving quality of care and responding to changing organizational needs through simulation and immersive learning.
- Provide oversight and direction with the incorporation of simulation and immersive education into education plans.
- Models leadership behaviors and serve as a change agent assisting operational leaders in understanding the importance, impact, and process of simulation programming and immersive education.
- Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, including basic theory, design, and implementation.
How You'll Be Successful:
WORK EXPERIENCE
- At least 7 years Healthcare Simulation experience Req
- At least 5 years Experience leading programs, projects and people Req
EDUCATION
- Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Req
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Active licensure or registration as a clinician (ex RN, RCP, PT, etc) Pref
- Certification in healthcare simulation Pref
- Certification in clinical specialty, education, and/or leadership Pref
