    Position Summary:

    The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the sales function for the assigned business unit or region within the Reading Group. These positions manage outside sales personnel within the assigned team to achieve the sales goals, while holding margins to the target profit level.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Lead the day-to-day operations of the sales team while maintaining focus on the company's strategic goals to achieve targets for revenue, profitability and sales growth
    • Establish performance goals for all sales department employees, monitor performance on a continual basis, and assist sales managers with action plans to get back on track when performance misses the goal
    • Increase market share in existing markets and maximize new business development opportunities by identifying and pursuing new customers and sales opportunities
    • Work with Engineering on new product development (NPD) or cost reduction concepts
    • Participate in the development of the strategic plan as well as sales and marketing plans for the company
    • Forecast and monitor chassis pool requirements
    • Monitor A/R aging on a proactive basis, coordinating with the controller and accounts receivable
    • Track results versus individual and team objectives and design action plans when results do not achieve the targets
    • Develop and maintain productive relationship with customer base, assisting in the resolution of issues when necessary
    • Drive continuous improvement in processes and team performance
    • Other duties as assigned

    Financial Responsibility:

    • No cost center responsibility; no profit & loss responsibility

    Position Qualifications & Requirements:

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in a Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred

    Experience:

    • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in outside sales management capacity
    • Extensive practical experience with the up-fit market or a similar industry

    Certification /License:

    • Valid driver's license with clean Motor Vehicle Record

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
    • Strong motivational, innovative, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong problem solving skills, analytical capabilities, collaboration and negotiation skills
    • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and results
    • Strong customer service orientation, ability to build and maintain relationships with key customers
    • Self-starter; able to work with little direction and within a team environment where the performance of others affects success
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Supervisory responsibilities:

    • Supervise/manage a group of outside sales professionals within assigned Region

    Work environment:

    • Work occurs primarily in the office, however, responsibilities may require time on the production floor
    • Occasional work in warehouse/manufacturing plant.
    • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE)

    Travel:

    • Frequent travel required (50%) to attend trade shows, conventions, conferences and to meet with current and potential customers
