Lead Innovative SCI Research at TIRR


TIRR is seeking an accomplished MD or PhD to lead strategic and scientific research initiatives within its Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Division. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape rehabilitation research strategy, advance high-impact SCI studies, secure federal funding, and build nationally recognized research partnerships.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the SCI Division’s research strategy, programs, and portfolio.
  • Oversee clinical, translational, and rehabilitation research initiatives.
  • Maintain an active independent research program.
  • Develop and secure federal grants and external funding.
  • Mentor and develop investigators and research staff.
  • Build collaborations with physicians, clinicians, universities, and national research organizations.
  • Advise executive leadership on research strategy and opportunities.
  • Drive high-impact publications, innovation, and research partnerships.
  • Manage research resources, budgets, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications
  • MD or PhD required.
  • 7+ years of research/administrative leadership experience as a Program Director, Department Head, Principal Investigator, or similar role.
  • Proven success obtaining federal research funding.
  • Strong background in rehabilitation and/or spinal cord injury research.
  • Established record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Expertise in research design, data analysis, and clinical/translational research.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and develop strategic partnerships.
