Summary/Objective

The Director of the Project Management and Change Management Office is a key strategic leader responsible for driving execution excellence across the organization. In this role, you will oversee the planning, delivery, and governance of major initiatives while ensuring the business has the structure, processes, and support needed to navigate change effectively. You will build and mature the PMO/CMO function, lead a high-performing team of project and change management professionals, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. This role encompasses strategic planning, team leadership, operational optimization, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership

  • Develops and implements strategic plans to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality assurance aligned with organizational objectives
  • Formulates and recommends policies and techniques that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation
  • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Stays informed about industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements
  • Develops and manages budgets to ensure financial objectives are met
  • Serves as a key member of the leadership team in establishing and implementing long-term growth and profitability goals
  • Interacts and maintains strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders including business partners, industry partners, and service providers
  • Coordinates with key stakeholders in the organization to ensure objectives are met and staff are properly developed and trained
  • Collaborate with senior executives to ensure projects and change initiatives support overall corporate goals
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable programs and initiatives

Project Management Leadership

  • Establish and manage a standardized project management office (PMO) framework, including processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Lead project portfolio planning, prioritization, and execution to align with organizational strategy
  • Set standards for project management/change management activities, tools, communication.
  • Serve as the hub for assigned, deployed, and imbedded project related roles
  • Oversee project managers and cross-functional teams, providing coaching, mentorship, and accountability
  • Monitor project performance metrics (budget, scope, timeline, quality, people) and report progress to executive leadership
  • Proactively identify risks and issues, implementing mitigation and contingency strategies

Change Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on transformation, integration, and process improvement efforts
  • Align project management activities with change management philosophies
  • Develop and implement organizational change management strategies for major initiatives.
  • Ensure adoption of change management best practices, tools, and processes across the organization
  • Partner with leaders to assess change impacts, stakeholder readiness, and communication needs
  • Measure change effectiveness and continuously improve adoption strategies

Team Development & Leadership

  • Builds, leads and inspires a high-performing project management and change management team
  • Establishes and maintains a technical direction and supervisory oversight structure for the department, including career progression and succession planning.
  • Establishes performance expectations and provides direction, feedback and guidance to employees.
  • Hires, fires, promotes, disciplines, coaches, mentors, and awards staff members according to organizational policies.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership or related field
  • 12+ years' experience in progressive roles in project management, change management, or related leadership roles
  • 10+ years' experience managing and leading day-to-day activities of engineers and designers, providing mentoring and career development coaching
  • Proven success leading enterprise-wide initiatives and transformation efforts
  • Experience implementing and scaling PMO and/or CMO practices
  • Strong understanding of project delivery frameworks (e.g., PMI, Agile, hybrid) and change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci)
  • Hands-on experience utilizing lean manufacturing principles for continuous process improvements (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S)
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership or related field
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP, SAFe, CSM)
  • Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) or Prosci Change Practitioner certification
  • Process improvement certification (Lean, Six Sigma)
