Position Summary

The Director of Product Enablement & Performance serves as a strategic partner to healthcare clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring successful adoption, optimization, and long-term value realization of Optum"s Utilization Management Hospital Services product portfolio.

This role acts as the central connector across clinical operations, product management, technology, implementation, customer success, account management, and renewal teams. The Director is responsible for aligning diverse stakeholder groups, driving governance and performance management processes, and ensuring clients achieve measurable clinical, operational, and financial outcomes throughout the customer lifecycle.

Working directly with clinicians, healthcare operators, technology leaders, and executive client sponsors, this leader will guide implementation readiness, clinical workflow optimization, change management initiatives, value realization activities, and ongoing customer engagement. The role is instrumental in supporting a mature product portfolio, strengthening client relationships, accelerating adoption, and positioning the business for future growth.

You"ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management & Value Realization

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary relationship leader for strategic client stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain executive-level client relationships, serving as a key partner throughout the product lifecycle

  • Define, implement, and oversee value management strategies that demonstrate clinical, operational, and financial impact

  • Lead performance reviews, value realization discussions, and customer success initiatives to maximize client outcomes and satisfaction

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen customer partnerships, improve adoption, and support portfolio growth and renewals

  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance

  • Act as the central hub connecting clinical operations, technology, implementation, product management, sales, customer success, and account teams

  • Establish and reinforce governance structures, operating models, and performance frameworks across matrixed organizations

  • Align stakeholders around strategic objectives, priorities, performance outcomes, and customer commitments

  • Coordinate activities across evolving teams, products, and organizational structures to ensure seamless execution

  • Drive enterprise-wide collaboration and accountability across multiple business functions

  • Product Enablement & Operational Readiness

  • Partner with implementation teams to support successful onboarding and operational readiness activities

  • Ensure clinical and operational workflows are optimized to maximize product effectiveness and user adoption

  • Develop scalable enablement strategies, best practices, and operational frameworks that support long-term success

  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to provide customer insights that influence product enhancements and roadmap priorities

  • Clinical Operations & Change Management

  • Partner with clinicians and healthcare operations leaders to understand workflow needs and support successful organizational change

  • Lead clinical change management initiatives that drive adoption and integration into healthcare delivery environments

  • Support development of clinical communications, training materials, educational resources, and workflow guidance

  • Provide expertise on utilization management workflows and clinical decision support processes to improve customer outcomes

  • Performance Management

  • Define and monitor key performance indicators related to adoption, utilization, customer outcomes, satisfaction, and renewals

  • Establish measurement frameworks that assess clinical, operational, and business impact

  • Analyze trends, identify risks and opportunities, and lead proactive improvement efforts

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience and portfolio performance

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of healthcare, SaaS, product enablement, healthcare technology, or clinical operations experience
  • 5+ years of client-facing leadership experience supporting clinical products, services, or technology solutions
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience, including leading across highly matrixed organizations without direct reporting authority
  • Experience with Utilization Management (UM), Hospital Services, Care Management, Clinical Operations, or Clinical Decision Support solutions, preferably within an acute care environment
  • Client Management experience including demonstrated success building trusted client relationships and driving measurable customer outcomes
  • Experience establishing governance structures, operating models, and performance management frameworks across complex stakeholder groups
  • Experience defining, implementing, and managing value realization and business outcome measurement processes
  • Proven solid executive presence with the ability to influence senior clinical, operational, and business leaders
  • Proven ability to use data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, risks, progress, and business outcomes
  • Proven ability to translate complex clinical, operational, and technical concepts into actionable business strategies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with physicians, nurses, case management leaders, and executive clinical stakeholders
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives, enterprise programs, or operational change efforts within healthcare environments
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and influence across product, technology, implementation, operations, renewal, and customer-facing teams
  • Experience supporting mature healthcare product portfolios with established customer bases and ongoing value realization efforts

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you"ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
