    Description

    The Director of Private Fleet is responsible for the overall operation related to the execution of all Dollar General employed drivers, developing site leadership across multiple locations. The position is accountable for operational KPIs including safety, compliance, employee engagement, turnover, and financial performance, and acts as the primary point of contact during onboarding and implementation of new locations.

    Job Responsibility

    • Coach, develop, and lead multiple Sr Transportation Managers across multiple sites. (30%)
    • Develop relationships with all drivers to ensure concerns are addressed and processes across all locations ensure equal and fair treatment of employees. (25%)
    • Manage relationships with maintenance providers, HR, 3PL carriers, and DC senior leadership to execute low cost, high service fleet operations, ensuring safety and compliance excellence. (20%)
    • Work closely with SSC partners to grow, expand, and implement new locations while reducing waste in cost and service. (10%)
    • Develop and execute P&L with site KPIs to ensure overall fleet performance; implement new processes to run an efficient fleet with high driver engagement. (20%)

    Working Conditions

    • Ability to travel up to 60%.

    Job Qualifications

    • Prior relationship management experience.
    • Prior P&L responsibility.
    • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
    • Project management expertise.
    • Demonstrated teamwork proficiency.

    Education/Experience

    • Minimum 8 years in Transportation, including operations, carrier management, and project implementation.
    • Results oriented fleet operations and service management experience.
    • Experience developing vision and strategy for Fleet Operations aligned with business needs.
    • Familiarity with Dedicated operations within a large distribution network.
    • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or related field.
