The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks a Director, Primary Care and Diabetes Recognition Programs to lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and advancement of ADA's primary care quality and recognition program portfolio. This position will play a key role in translating evidence-based recommendations into practical programs, tools, and strategies that support primary care practices in delivering high-quality, equitable care for people living with diabetes and/or obesity. The Director will lead the ideation, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of diabetes and primary care recognition programs across multiple content areas, working collaboratively with internal teams, clinical experts, professional organizations, health systems, primary care practices, and external partners. A key area of responsibility will be advancing the integration of diabetes technology into primary care, including continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), automated insulin delivery (AID), and connected insulin delivery systems. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Primary Care. While the position is remote, this position should anticipate travelling 10% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of ADA Primary Care Recognition Programs, from concept through launch and ongoing program management
- Develop and implement evaluation frameworks and performance measures to assess program reach, engagement, implementation, quality improvement, and impact.
- Analyze program data and translate findings into recommendations for program refinement, dissemination, and future investment.
- Provide strategic and operational oversight of complex quality improvement initiatives, ensuring milestones, deliverables, performance targets, and timelines are achieved
- Provide expertise in QI and/or D&I science methodology and practice facilitation to optimize program outcomes.
- Collaborate with other ADA team members and divisions/departments, as requested.
- Develop and deliver presentations and program reporting to funding organizations.
- Monitor program expenses and budgets.
- Oversee development and maintenance of program content and review and approval of grant related content used in dissemination.
- Engage in grant writing as needed to further support the efforts of the department and the ADA.
- Manage vendor relationships as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public health, healthcare administration, clinical/health sciences, or related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in quality improvement, implementation science, primary care transformation, population health, healthcare program development, or a related field.
- Experience working with diabetes technology (CGM, AIDs) strongly preferred
- Experience leading or participating in recognition programs is preferred
- Experience in practice-based research, primary care quality improvement, and practice facilitation is preferred
- Diabetes knowledge and experience are preferred
- Ability to optimize and implement process improvements across the grant lifecycle
- Experience implementing project management processes, procedures, and policies
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently to manage multiple concurrent activities and complex grant portfolios
- Strong attention to detail, and proven ability to effectively manage large amounts of data and communications in an organized, timely and accurate manner
- Ability to gain and maintain strong understanding of programs and to effectively communicate and explain them to constituents in both verbal and written form
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, the ability to interact credibly across multiple departments and divisions within the Association and externally, with professional volunteers, donors, sponsors, and constituents within the community
