    Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Nurtures and fosters relationships with the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Associate Dean of Curriculum.
    • Builds and nurtures relationships between Course Directors, Deans, faculty, staff, and students.
    • Leads site Course Director meetings.
    • Mentors Course Directors in giving feedback to students, writing Narrative Summaries, and integrating simulation and evidence-based medicine (EBM) into courses.
    • In collaboration with Student Affairs, serves as a general and specialty-specific career advisor to students and serves as faculty advisor to relevant student organizations.
    • Mentors and advises students in their pre-clerkship education to include remediation, curriculum concerns and their success through United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) Step 1.
    • Participates in M4 (Medical Student 4th Year) Capstone/Transition to Residency course.
    • Participates in M1 (Medical Student 1st Year) Orientation/Transition to Medical School course.
    • Serves on school committees as requested, including, but not limited to, the Admissions Committee, Curriculum Committee, and other committees as needed.
    • Oversees and directs curriculum coordinators.

    Common Expectations:

    • Expected to support and meet the values and standards of the organization and the performance expectations of the job, the medical school campus, the department, and the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation program.
    • Adherence to all relevant Temple University, local, state, federal, and other student privacy and record-keeping requirements is also expected.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Estimated Amount: 5% - Periodic single-day travel to the main campus of the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and/or the Temple/St. Luke's Regional Medical Campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania may be required for several days each year. Overnight travel to regional and/or national Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and/or other similar conferences related to Medical Education and Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation processes and requirements.
