Job Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Patient Care Services (PCS), Community Hospital will oversee inpatient clinical operations for the Community Hospital assigned to oversee. Department responsibility may change based on strategic needs. The Director PCS is fully engaged in providing uncompromised safety, superior quality, memorable customer experiences, and financial stewardship.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Maintains an environment conducive to optimum safety for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring compliance with all patient safety goals.

  2. Participates in the administration of Patient Care Services as a full member of the Nurse Executive Team, providing leadership in critical thinking, conflict management and problem-solving.

  3. Participates in the determination of clinical and administrative nursing goals and direction,

and in the strategic and long-range planning of patient care services.

  1. Ensures education of associates and compliance with quality indicators and core measures and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of care.

  2. Serves as a professional role model and mentor to motivate, develop, recruit and retain future nursing leaders.

  3. Facilitates communication to meet the ongoing demands of the organization and serves as a change agent, assisting all staff in understanding the importance, necessity, impact, and process of change.

  4. Accepts organizational accountability for services provided to recipients.

  5. Fosters a climate conducive to educational experiences for nursing and other students.

  6. Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPs scores, written compliments from patients/families/visitors, and consistent performance of purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report.

10.Acquires and allocates human, material, and financial resources for specific functions and processes.

11.Ensures compliance with budget expectations and corporate financial goals.

12.Participates in ongoing evaluation and innovation of services

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
  • BSN required
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related required
  • OR, conditional and time limited waiver for Masters Degree requirement may apply to internal associates who enroll in a Master's Degree program within two years of transition to new role
  • OR, external candidates may apply who are currently enrolled in a Master's Degree program to complete within two years of hire
  • Licensure: Active State of Florida RN license
  • Certification: Must hold current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain
  • Work Experience: At least five (5) years of nursing management experience
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of TJC (The Joint Commission), Florida Nurse Practice Act and other applicable agency regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to educate and speak/understand written and verbal communications in the English language
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to access and interpret data
  • Sound time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Maintains professional competencies by attending continuing education programs and participating in professional organizations.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to life-threatening/emergent situations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification: National certification in relevant specialty or nurse administration

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Medium

  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
  • Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise.
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
