    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Serve as a clinical resource and role model.
    • Assist and communicate with other members of the nursing team.
    • Assume direct patient care responsibility compatible with departmental unit needs.
    • Exercise hospital administrative decision making authority as needed.
    • Maintain staffing levels, communicates staffing needs, secured staff and forecasts staffing needs based on volume.
    • Supervise, evaluate, interview, discipline and manage all personnel assigned to department.
    • Develop annual budget and operate efficiently and effectively.
    • Assure customer needs are met within available resource.
    • Maintain supplies and equipment needs.
    • Increase productivity of the department.
    • Ensure department employees meet all license and education requirements; competencies and training needs are met.
    • Provide coverage in the department where applicable.
    • Consistently improve customer satisfaction and service quality.

    ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.

    MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education - Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
    • Work Experience - Three years in acute care setting within department specific; supervisory experience required.
    • Training - N/A
    • License/Certification - Current New Mexico Nurse License; ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CNOR, where applicable per department required.
