Summary:

The Director of Transformation (Strategy & Services) leads the assessment, development and preparation of transformation opportunities that advance Penn Medicine\'s strategic priorities. This leadership role partners with entity leaders to define problems, evaluate opportunities, establish future-state visions, develop business cases and determine the most effective path forward. The Director ensures transformation initiatives are strategically aligned, appropriately scoped and positioned for successful execution and investment opportunities. This role demands a versatile leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on transformation delivery, directly leading complex engagements while building the disciplines that make transformation work more intentional, repeatable and effective. The role is a trusted advisor to senior clinical and operational leaders, skilled at helping stakeholders identify problems, clarify desired outcomes, challenge assumptions and evaluate opportunities before significant resources are committed. This individual excels at leading structured diagnostic engagements that assess organizational readiness, identify root causes, develop actionable recommendations, and establish a clear path from opportunity to execution. Equally important, the Director translates lessons learned into practical methodologies, tools, and approaches that improve how transformation work is assessed and initiated across teams. Like all leaders on the team, the Director leads a mixed portfolio of projects, programs, and teams across the transformation lifecycle, working cross-functionally and adapting their expertise to a wide range of strategic and operational challenges. The distinguishing contribution of this role is the ability to determine where transformation effort should be focused, how opportunities should be shaped, and what conditions are necessary for successful implementation.

Responsibilities:

• Project, portfolio, and team leadership. Lead a mixed slate of projects, portfolios, and teams across the full delivery lifecycle. Work cross-functionally across CHTI teams regardless of domain, playing to expertise in opportunity development where it applies while remaining a versatile, full-lifecycle delivery leader, including the execution and scale work that any initiative requires.
• People leadership and team development. Provide advanced people management for a team of direct reports working across cross-functional domains. Recruit, develop, and retain talent
• set clear direction and accountabilities
• and cultivate a high-performing team whose work engages and supports both the division portfolio and the broader Center. Develop staff through coaching, stretch assignments, and exposure, building bench strength that extends the capability beyond any single leader.
• Transformation Diagnostics, planning and opportunity development. Lead structured transformation assessments that help leaders understand current-state challenges, clarify desired outcomes, evaluate alternatives, and define implementation-ready solutions. Facilitate opportunity prioritization, business case development, stakeholder alignment and roadmap creation before initiatives move into execution.
• Transformation assessment and planning methodology: Develop and maintain the frameworks, methodologies and tools used to identify, evaluate, scope and development transformation opportunities. Establish consistent approaches and toolkits for intake, diagnostics, current-state assessment, business case creation, prioritization and strategic planning. Use own portfolio as the proving ground where the model is built, tested, and refined before it travels.
• Transformation delivery capability stewardship. Steward CHTI's transformation delivery capabilities (design, project management, business case development, and consulting methodology), ensuring they are deployable, well-matched to engagement needs, and operated efficiently. Act as matchmaker of these capabilities across teams, connecting initiatives to Care Augmentation's transformation product delivery capabilities where a technical build is warranted, and identify when external partnerships are needed to meet an unmet need.
• Partnership integration and enablement with health system strategy leaders. Partner with health system strategy leaders to integrate and enable transformation opportunities: surfacing and shaping pipeline, aligning diagnostic findings to growth priorities, and facilitating the internal and external partnerships that move developed opportunities toward funding and execution.
• Analytical rigor, executive engagement, and portfolio stewardship. Bring advanced analytical capability and senior-level communication to the stewardship of a highly accountable, high-performing portfolio. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and clinical leaders, translating complex analysis into assessments, recommendations, and presentations that drive decisions and high-impact outcomes. Position views to win support, negotiate across stakeholders, and balance competing needs, driving adoption of the operating platform through influence rather than positional authority.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

• Bachelor of Arts or Science Business, Management, Engineering preferred (Required)
• And 7+ years with 7-10 years health care or consulting experience (Required)
• Master of Arts or Science (Preferred)
• Master's degree may substitute for up to 2 years\' experience
