At Ted’s Montana Grill, we believe that training is so much more than programs and manuals. We believe that training should make people more successful at their jobs, prepare great Managers for bigger opportunities, and ultimately make our restaurants better.
We’re looking for a Director of Training who understands restaurant operations first and knows how to leverage that knowledge into creating training that people will actually use.
This is a hands-on role with a lot of ownership and visibility. You won’t inherit a big Learning & Development department, but you’ll own the training function. You’ll work directly with our Operations leaders, HR team and senior leadership to identify what our restaurants need, build practical solutions, and make sure those solutions work in the real world.
For someone who has been building toward the next step in their career, this is an opportunity to get closer to the business, have a voice at the table, and make an impact across an entire restaurant company.
This position is based in our Restaurant Support Center in downtown Atlanta and is not remote or hybrid.
Our Manager-in-Training program is one of the most important things you’ll own.
You’ll shape the experience from the moment a new Manager joins Ted’s until they’re ready to lead in their restaurant. That means staying close to our MITs, partnering with our Training Restaurants, spotting problems early, coaching when needed, and continually making the program better.
The goal isn’t simply to get Managers through training. It’s to make sure they’re ready.
We aren't interested in training just for the sake of training.
You’ll own and continually improve our training tools for Managers, Front of House and Heart of House teams—making sure they’re relevant, practical, engaging and aligned with how we actually operate.
Sometimes that means creating something new. Sometimes it means simplifying something that has become too complicated. And sometimes it means getting into a restaurant and figuring out why something isn’t working.
You’ll spend a lot of time working directly with our Operations leaders and senior leadership.
We want someone who can listen to what Operations needs, challenge thinking when appropriate, and turn opportunities into practical solutions that restaurants can execute.
You should be equally comfortable talking with a new Manager, a Proprietor running a busy restaurant, and a senior executive discussing company-wide results.
Great training isn't just about today's job.
You’ll partner with Operations and HR to identify high-potential talent, strengthen development plans and help prepare our best people for what’s next.
If someone has the ability and ambition to grow at Ted’s, we want to give them a pathway to get there.
Opening a restaurant is where great training really gets tested.
You’ll own the training strategy for our New Restaurant Openings—from selecting and preparing trainers to coordinating the training plan and being on-site during the opening.
It’s fast-paced, messy, exciting and incredibly rewarding. We need someone who enjoys being right in the middle of it.
You’ll help us answer a simple question: Is our training making our restaurants better?
That means looking at results, listening to operators, identifying gaps and measuring the impact of what we do. You’ll also own the Training budget and make thoughtful decisions about where our time and resources will have the greatest impact.
You’ll oversee key training-related compliance areas as well, including food safety and alcohol certifications, and partner with Operations when standards need attention.
You’ve built your career in restaurants and understand what it takes to run a great one.
Maybe you're already leading Training or Operations Services. Maybe you're a strong restaurant operator who discovered that developing people is the part of the job you love most. Or maybe you've been waiting for the opportunity to take everything you've learned and own a training function yourself.
Whatever your path, we’re looking for someone who:
This probably isn't the right job for someone looking to manage a large corporate training department.
But if you want ownership, access to senior leadership, the opportunity to influence an entire restaurant company, and the freedom to build training that actually makes a difference, we should talk.
At Ted’s, you won't be several layers removed from the restaurants—or from the people making decisions. You'll be right in the middle of both.
We take great pride in ensuring all guests receive a warm and memorable experience leaving them feeling better than when they came in. From a bowl of half sours to our two-dollar bills, we empower each team member to deliver Big Sky Moments in ways that are natural and effortless to Ted’s and our guests.
THE EXPERIENCE
Our restaurants represent classic saloons of the 19th century where cattlemen and land barons found a little relaxation after a hard day’s work.
SUSTAINABILITY
We believe in leaving a better world for future generations. You’ll see this in our commitment to local growers, the paper straws, the Boraxo soap in our restrooms and sustainable choices in our kitchen operations.
We are steadfast in our commitment to people, product and prosperity. Ted’s Montana Grill develops and encourages people to become leaders and engage the hearts and minds of our teams.
