St. Thomas University (STU) invites applications for the position of Director of the Enrique V. Del Riego Institute of Trade and Logistics Management, a full-time faculty appointment with administrative leadership responsibilities for the institute.

STU seeks an innovative, industry-engaged, and student-centered faculty leader with expertise in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, International Trade, and related areas.

The successful candidate will provide academic and strategic leadership for the Institute while teaching, mentoring students, advancing applied research, strengthening industry partnerships, and overseeing the implementation and stewardship of grants and donor-supported initiatives.

The position offers an opportunity to shape the continued development of a multidisciplinary academic and workforce platform connecting business education, supply chain, logistics, international trade, accounting, finance, technology, research, and industry engagement.

The Opportunity

The Director will lead the continued development and growth of the Enrique V. Del Riego Institute of Trade and Logistics Management as a distinctive academic, workforce-development, research, and industry-engagement initiative at St. Thomas University.

The Director will be expected to connect academic excellence with hands-on learning and industry practice, creating meaningful opportunities for students while strengthening the Institute's relationships with employers, government agencies, professional organizations, donors, and community partners.

A significant component of the position will involve ensuring that grant-funded and donor-supported initiatives are successfully implemented and that their impact is clearly documented and communicated.

Essential Responsibilities

The Director will:

• Provide academic, strategic, and programmatic leadership for the Enrique V. Del Riego Institute of Trade and Logistics Management.
• Teach courses in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, International Trade, and/or related areas.
• Deliver instruction through lectures, hands-on learning, applied exercises, projects, simulations, and other experiential approaches. These expectations build directly on STU's existing faculty model for this academic area.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students and supervise research, capstone, and applied projects.
• Maintain scholarly, applied research, professional, and service activities appropriate to the faculty appointment.
• Lead and assist curriculum development, program enhancement, and continuous improvement of academic, certificate, credential, and workforce offerings.
• Strengthen interdisciplinary connections among Supply Chain, Logistics Management, International Trade, Business, Accounting, Finance, technology, and related disciplines.
• Build and sustain relationships with employers, logistics and transportation organizations, ports, airports, import/export organizations, government agencies, professional associations, and other industry partners.
• Expand internships, apprenticeships, experiential learning, applied research, professional certifications, and employment pathways for students.
• Oversee the programmatic implementation and stewardship of grants, sponsored projects, philanthropic gifts, and donor-supported initiatives.
• Monitor grant and project milestones, deliverables, outcomes, and impact.
• Collaborate with university Philanthropy Office, sponsored programs, Finance, Institutional Research, and other University offices to support effective implementation and accountability.
• Prepare and contribute to grant reports, donor stewardship reports, impact reports, presentations, and other documentation demonstrating measurable results.
• Identify opportunities for external funding, industry partnerships, applied research, workforce initiatives, and program growth.
• Represent the Institute and St. Thomas University with industry, academic, governmental, donor, and community stakeholders.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships to showcase the Enrique V. Del Riego Institute of Trade and Logistics Management.

Qualifications

• At minimum, a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, International Trade, Business Administration, Operations Management, Information Systems/Technology, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

• Demonstrated professional and/or academic expertise in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, International Trade, or related disciplines.

• Proven ability to teach college-level courses effectively.

• Demonstrated commitment to student-centered, hands-on, and experiential learning.

• Evidence of or potential for scholarly, applied, or professional work in relevant disciplines.

• Demonstrated industry experience.

• Experience in curriculum development, academic programming, workforce development, or related educational initiatives.

• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching, hands-on learning, research, student mentoring, and industry engagement and will be comfortable moving between the classroom, academic leadership, industry partnerships, and externally funded initiatives.

The individual should possess the ability to engage credibly with professionals throughout the Supply Chain, Logistics Management, and International Trade sectors and translate emerging industry needs into relevant educational, research, and workforce opportunities for students.
