    Title: Director of Tax, Private Client Advisors (Trust, Estate, Gift tax)
    Location: Multiple CA locations (Irvine, Woodland Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, San Ramon, San Jose, San Francisco, Century City, El Segundo) 
    Salary: $195K–$265K base (DOE & location)

    Overview
    A growing public accounting firm is seeking a Tax Director to lead high-net-worth individual and fiduciary tax engagements. This role focuses on complex tax planning and compliance across estate, gift, and trust matters, along with team leadership and business development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review complex tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, including closely held entities, trusts, estates, and gift tax filings
    • Advise clients on tax implications of personal and business transactions
    • Lead large, multi-client engagements, ensuring quality, timelines, and profitability
    • Conduct and oversee research on complex tax issues; prepare technical memoranda
    • Mentor and develop managers and supervisors; oversee engagement workflow, budgets, and staffing
    • Collaborate across service lines to identify and drive cross-selling opportunities
    • Participate in business development efforts and client relationship expansion
    • Contribute to thought leadership through publications, training, and speaking engagements
    • Stay current on tax law changes and provide guidance and training internally

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field
    • Active CPA, EA or JD
    • 8+ years of public accounting tax experience
    • 4+ years in a leadership/managerial role
    • Strong expertise in high-net-worth individual, trust, estate, and gift taxation
    • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
    • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex client engagements

    Preferred

    • Master's in Taxation or Accounting
