    The Position

    • The Director of Surgical Suites will provide strategic and operational leadership across Baystate Medical Center and Chestnut Surgery Center overseeing 36 operating rooms while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.
    • This leader will drive quality, safety, and operational improvement initiatives across Surgical Services, leveraging data, metrics, and best practices to identify opportunities, improve efficiencies, and, implement sustainable improvements.
    • The Director will oversee daily surgical operations, staffing, workforce planning, resource utilization, equipment, and departmental budgets while ensuring efficient patient flow and operational excellence across a high-volume perioperative environment.
    • Will lead, mentor, and develop surgical services leaders and staff while fostering a highly visible culture of collaboration, engagement and continuous improvement.
    • Must build and maintain strong relationships with surgeons, anesthesia teams, medical staff, and hospital leadership, serving as a trusted partner and key liaison between physicians, clinical teams and administration.
    • The Director will partner across the organization to advance patient safety, regulatory readiness, evidence-based perioperative practices, and technology modernization, including the transition to a new Oracle platform.
    • The ideal candidate will be a Surgical Services leader with experience in a large, complex hospital environment who can effectively lead through change, drive accountability, and build credibility with physicians and staff.
    • This leader will have the opportunity to build on a well-established surgical program while advancing quality, safety, workforce stability, employee engagement, physician partnerships, and operational performance across a high-volume, 36-OR environment.

    Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in nursing is required; masters degree is preferred.
    • A minimum of three years of experience in surgical services and/or OR nursing is required.
    • A minimum of three years of leadership/supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
