About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Surgical Services to lead a high-performing surgical team within a dynamic, technology-forward acute care environment. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a surgical services professional ready to oversee OR operations, drive clinical excellence, and make a measurable impact across one of the region's premier surgical programs.

The Director reports to the VP of Surgical Services and will oversee a team of 1 Manager and 50–55 FTEs across 12 operating rooms.

What You'll Be Doing

Clinical Quality & Safety
  • Implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes
  • Managing clinical practice variation to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Ensuring regulatory and accreditation compliance across all surgical operations
  • Overseeing equipment maintenance per regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Coordinating patient throughput, flow, and admission/discharge planning

Patient Experience
  • Leading initiatives to deliver a consistent, exceptional patient experience
  • Leveraging feedback mechanisms to identify and close satisfaction gaps
  • Collaborating with patient experience leaders to embed best practices

People Leadership
  • Building and sustaining a high-engagement team culture grounded in the organization's mission and values
  • Identifying development needs, coaching staff, and driving performance
  • Attracting, developing, and retaining top surgical services talent

Growth & Finance
  • Collaborating with administration and physicians to enhance or expand service lines
  • Participating in annual budgeting, including revenue/expense forecasting and staffing plans
  • Monitoring budget performance and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Managing labor, productivity, supply utilization, and premium pay

Key Service Lines & Robotics Platform
  • General Surgery | Spine | Orthopedics | Open Heart | Neurosurgery
  • Robotics: 2 Globus, 2 Mako, 1 Rosa, 4 Da Vinci (2 Xi, 1 DV5, 1 SP)

What You'll Need

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience
  • 1+ years of recent Director-level or strong Managerial leadership experience in Surgical Services required
  • 3+ years of applicable Surgical Services clinical experience required

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $184, 683 – $276, 848 (commensurate with experience)
  • Incentive Bonus: Up to 17.5%
  • Relocation Assistance: Considered on a case-by-case basis
