    Description

    Position Summary

    The Director of Surgical Services provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for perioperative services. This leader oversees quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, financial performance, physician relationships, staffing, and service line growth while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

    Key Responsibilities

    ·       Provide executive oversight of Surgical Services operations.

    ·       Lead quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

    ·       Direct staffing, labor management, budgeting, and resource utilization.

    ·       Improve patient throughput and operational efficiency.

    ·       Partner with physicians and hospital leadership to grow service lines.

    ·       Develop leaders, mentor managers, and strengthen employee engagement.

    ·       Oversee capital equipment and supply management.

    ·       Drive strategic planning, process improvement, and patient experience.



    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    ·       Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

    ·       Minimum of 2 years of recent Acute Care Director of Surgical Services experience OR several years as an Operating Room Nurse Manager in a large trauma center.


    ·       Current Florida RN license or multi-state compact license.

    Experience

    ·       Recent Acute Care Director of Surgical Services strongly preferred.

    ·       Will consider experienced Operating Room Nurse Managers from large Level I or II Trauma Centers.

    Surgical Services Department 

    ·       Level II Trauma Center

    ·       13 ORs + 2 CVORs, Robotics, Urology, CV, Trauma, Ortho/Spine, Vascular, GYN, General

    ·       650–700 cases/month

    ·       4 direct-report managers (OR, SPD, Pre/Post, Endoscopy)

    ·       80–90 FTEs

    ·       Reports directly to the COO

    Ideal Candidate

    ·       Strong perioperative operations leader with trauma experience, physician relationship skills, budgeting, labor management, and service line growth.
