    Description

    A tertiary care teaching hospital and Level II Trauma Center is seeking a Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for its surgical services department. This position supports a comprehensive surgical program while partnering with hospital leadership, physicians, and clinical teams to promote safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

    Responsibilities

    Provide overall operational and financial leadership for the Surgical Services department.

    Oversee nursing practice, daily operations, and clinical standards to ensure patient and family care needs are consistently assessed and addressed.

    Develop and implement policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices that support patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.

    Manage patient flow, volume forecasting, throughput initiatives, and operational planning to improve department efficiency.

    Monitor and manage clinical practice variation to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

    Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

    Collaborate with physicians and administrative leaders to strengthen existing surgical programs and identify opportunities for service line growth.

    Oversee labor management, staffing plans, productivity, supply utilization, and equipment expenditures.

    Requirements

    Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience required.

    Several years of OR Manager experience in a large trauma center may be considered.

    Bachelor's degree or other approved education plan required.

    Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.

    Master's degree preferred.

    Schedule

    Full-time, days.
