Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean of Student Success and Retention, the Director of Student Success establishes, evaluates, and implements comprehensive intervention services such as tutoring, assessment, coaching, and career services, retention processes, and other student learning opportunities that holistically support academic programs and contribute to student success, persistence, completion, and placement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and manages the day-to-day operations of the Student Success and Testing Centers, which include functions involving tutoring, assessment, coaching, career, and intervention services that support student success, persistence, retention, and graduation. Assists in developing and implementing the Colleges retention and intervention efforts.
  • Supervises student success department staff involved in tutoring, assessment, coaching, career, intervention, student success, and retention duties, provides regular training and guidance to ensure a high-quality student learning and assessment experience, and maintains a positive work environment.
  • Oversees services to include staff scheduling, promoting services and resources, assisting students, assessing services effectiveness, and ensuring that College and division communications, academic programs, initiatives, and standard operating procedures are shared with and understood by staff.
  • Collaborates and communicates with faculty and administration regarding subject matter content to ensure services support academic course content, educational outcomes, and assessment. Creates and offers relevant sessions, boot camps, workshops, and other student success and assessment services when needed.
  • Assists with designing and implementing the College's first-year experience program, which may include College Skills courses and the teaching of course(s) when needed.
  • Leverages technology solutions to support students services and maximize communication, data collection, management, and efficiency. Uses systems to evaluate service utilization through a variety of reports and surveys. Ensures that reports and other required documentation are developed according to requirements and within established timelines of the division and policies and procedures. Responsible for strategic planning, assessments, budget, and resource allocation related to the Student Success Department.
  • Maintains a current understanding of research and initiatives that impact higher education and student development, specifically in tutoring, assessment, coaching techniques, and career services. Uses best practices to develop services and strategies to proactively address the quality of students' learning and assessment environments. Participates in orientations, workshops, college information sessions, and other related events as assigned. Participates in campus activities, serves on College committees, and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelors degree and experience in student services programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree and five (5) years of progressive experience in managing college academic success departments, retention, intervention, and assessment initiatives is preferred.
