General Definition of Work
The Director of Student Planning & Outreach, under minimal supervision, performs senior‑level work with considerable decision-making leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of data-driven systems that support student assignment, enrollment, and planning strategies. Position leverages data analytics, automation, and digital tools to improve operational efficiency, inform decision-making, and enhance transparency across student planning processes. Position oversees enrollment projections, school boundaries, continuation patterns, and school choice processes, while building scalable systems and workflows to support district-wide planning initiatives. Employee performs advanced work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Planning & Outreach.

Essential Functions
Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff
Investigate, analyze, and formulate methods for handling special projects/reports
Apply project management procedures and best practices to department initiatives
Continuously assess, design, and enhance data systems, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in student planning processes
Prepare recommendations related to student assignment boundaries and continuation patterns
Develop and execute marketing and enrollment strategies (both short- and long-term) that are aligned with the goals and objectives of the district
Promote internal and external communication to improve transparency, access, and enrollment; develop enrollment projection and recruitment strategies
Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including families and community partners
In collaboration with Communications, develop marketing collateral
Utilize data analytics to track trends and inform decision-making
Conduct market research and demographic analysis
Monitor and participate in departmental budget development
Coordinate planning and outreach work across departments
Design, develop, and optimize data systems, dashboards, and tools to support student planning and enrollment processes
Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and improve efficiency through technology solutions
Lead the integration and use of data platforms (e.g., GIS mapping tools, dashboards, data visualization tools)
Collaborate to implement scalable technology solutions
Translate complex data into actionable insights to inform decisions and recommendations
Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across systems
Facilitate staff meetings and attend other related meetings as needed/required
Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
