The position is responsible for performing all administrative and professional duties of athletic training services for the Lasell University Department of Athletics' Division III varsity and club sports.

The successful candidate with work with the head team physician in the development of a comprehensive integrated health and athletic performance program, including injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs, and student athlete referrals. The position will direct, supervise, and evaluate all aspects of the athletic training services, including scheduling, hiring, mentoring, and supervising full time staff athletic trainers. The position will be responsible for specific sport responsibilities, including attendance at team practices and home and away competition and primary injury management of team members. The position will also manage the athletic training budget, serve as the primary liaison with the athletics insurance provider, assist in fundraising and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Athletics. Lasell University Athletic Training Services is a clinical site for Lasell University's athletic training program. The Director of Sports Medicine and Sports Performance will serve as clinical preceptor for the CAATE accredited athletic training program. The position serves as the designated Athletics Health Care Administrator for Lasell University.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and supervise all aspects of Athletic Training Services at Lasell University.
  • Exercise independent medical authority for all health care decisions related to the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play of student athletes, free from influence by coaching staff or competitive pressures as the Athletics Health Care Administrator for Lasell University.
  • Prevent, evaluate, treat and rehabilitate injuries and conditions sustained to Lasell University athletes.
  • Adhere to all NATA standards and guidelines regarding care of student athletes
  • Uphold all NCAA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference standards and guidelines
  • Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies.
  • Coordinate athletic training services for visiting teams during varsity contests.
  • Design, implement, and supervise comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate athletic varsity teams. Work with the Fitness Center Supervisor to oversee strength and conditioning facility cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and purchase schedule.
  • Organize and conduct pre participation physicals for student athletes.
  • Maintain electronic medical records for all student athletes.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid training of all head coaches and full time staff.
  • Primary liaison between physicians and student athletes.
  • Refer student athletes to specialist as needed for integrated healthcare services.
  • Coordinate secondary insurance coverage for student athletes.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff athletic trainers.
  • Create, administer, and maintain the athletic training budget.
  • Collaborate with Health Services, Counseling Center and Lasell Sports Science Institute regarding student athlete health and well being.
  • Clinical Preceptor for the CAATE accredited athletic training program
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records and student athlete information. Ensure all injury documentation, treatments, and medical histories are handled in full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) and educational records from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.
  • Report to the Title IX Coordinator knowledge or receipt of reports of discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation from students or other members of the University
  • BOC certified
  • Licensed to practice in MA.
  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of five years of experience in college athletics preferred

Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Other Requirements of the Job: Travel, weekends, and evening hours required.

CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION OR LICENSURE REQUIRED BY THE JOB:

  • BOC certified in good standing
  • Licensure to practice in the state of Massachusetts.
