Develop and implement a program designed to meet the needs of special education students within the least restrictive environment.Performance Responsibilities:Provides assurance that the current rules and regulations governing special education are implemented within the established state and federal guidelines.Supervises and evaluates child study team personnel.Supervises and evaluates related services personnel-speech/language, occupational therapist(s) and physical therapist(s), etc.Assists in the evaluation of special education teachers.Supervises and evaluates secretarial staff.Coordinates responsibilities of individual team members to ensure compliance with statute and code.Coordinates placement and programs of all classified students in out-of-district public and private schools.Attends meetings of special education personnel and regular classroom teachers to discuss appropriate programs for disabled students.Assists in the selection of new special education personnel in the district.Attends appropriate state and county conferences regarding special education.Provides in-service for administrators, teachers, child study team members, and parents of special needs students in relevant areas.Prepares annual budget for the child study teams and special education.Completes applications for federal and state funds.Completes all required state and federal reports related to special education.Develops and submits Special Education Plan.Participates in mediation and due process proceedings as mandated.Develops and revises special education curriculum and class profiles.Implements Section 504 regulations.Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.Terms of Employment: Annual salary as negotiated.Evaluation: Performance of this job shall be annually evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools.
