About Focused Property Inspections

Focused Property Inspections is a growing multi-state inspection company providing professional residential inspection and environmental testing services. Our services include home inspections, septic inspections, wood-destroying insect inspections, radon testing, water quality testing, and other services supporting real estate transactions.

As our North Carolina operations continue to grow, we are seeking a Director of Services – North Carolina to lead our field inspection team and ensure consistent quality, accountability, training, and customer service throughout the state.

Position Overview

The Director of Services – North Carolina is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of FPI's North Carolina inspection team.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Director will supervise inspectors, monitor inspection quality, assist with training and development, maintain service coverage, help resolve field and client issues, and ensure inspections are performed consistently with company policies and applicable professional and regulatory standards.

The Director will work closely with company leadership and operations while serving as the primary field-services leader for North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise FPI's North Carolina inspectors.

  • Maintain consistent inspection quality and adherence to company standards.

  • Review inspection reports, photographs, and documentation as part of ongoing quality-control efforts.

  • Coach inspectors and address performance or quality issues when identified.

  • Assist with onboarding, field training, and development of new inspectors.

  • Coordinate continuing education and additional service certifications.

  • Help maintain adequate geographic and scheduling coverage throughout FPI's North Carolina service area.

  • Monitor inspector availability, workload, and service capacity.

  • Assist inspectors with difficult field situations and technical questions.

  • Support investigation and resolution of client complaints.

  • Conduct or coordinate re-inspections when necessary.

  • Ensure proper documentation of significant field or customer-service issues.

  • Monitor compliance with company procedures, inspection standards, and applicable North Carolina requirements.

  • Work with Operations and company leadership to improve processes, technology, training, and service delivery.

  • Help implement new inspection services, equipment, and technology.

  • Maintain accountability for company-issued inspection equipment.

  • Conduct inspections or provide field coverage when operationally necessary.

  • Represent FPI professionally with clients, real estate professionals, contractors, employees, and industry partners.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong knowledge of residential construction, building systems, or property inspection.

  • Previous home inspection, construction, property-services, or related field experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory ability.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to review technical information and make consistent, well-documented decisions.

  • Comfortable working with inspection software, mobile applications, Microsoft 365, and other business technology.

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to travel throughout FPI's North Carolina service territory as needed.

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with residential property inspections.

Preferred

  • Previous experience supervising home inspectors or other field-service professionals.

  • North Carolina home inspection license.

  • North Carolina WDI/WDO inspection qualifications or experience.

  • Septic inspection experience or applicable North Carolina credentials.

  • Radon, water-quality, environmental testing, or indoor-air-quality experience.

  • InterNACHI or ASHI certifications.

  • Experience with quality assurance, complaint resolution, or employee training.

  • Experience managing geographically distributed field employees.

Candidates who do not currently hold every preferred certification may still be considered. FPI values strong leadership, technical ability, professionalism, and the ability to develop additional qualifications.

What Success Looks Like

The Director of Services should build a North Carolina field operation where:

  • Inspectors understand what is expected of them.

  • Inspection quality is consistent regardless of which inspector performs the job.

  • Problems are identified and addressed early.

  • New inspectors receive structured training and oversight.

  • Client complaints are handled professionally and consistently.

  • Service coverage supports company growth without sacrificing quality.

  • Leadership has clear visibility into field performance and operational challenges.

  • Inspectors have a knowledgeable leader available when they need technical or operational support.

Leadership Expectations

We are looking for someone who can balance accountability with development.

The right candidate should be comfortable holding employees to established standards while also helping them improve. This position requires someone who can make decisions, communicate expectations clearly, document problems appropriately, and work collaboratively with the rest of the leadership team.

This is not simply an administrative management position. The Director of Services must understand the realities of field inspection work and be willing to remain engaged with inspectors and field operations.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, licensing, and the final scope of responsibilities.

FPI offers a growing organization, opportunities for professional development, and the ability to play a significant role in the continued development of our North Carolina operations.

Apply

Please submit a resume outlining your inspection, construction, field-service, and leadership experience.

Candidates with relevant North Carolina inspection, WDI, septic, environmental testing, or related licenses and certifications should include those qualifications with their application.
