Description

The Director of School Nutrition leads the School Nutrition department''s day-to-day operations, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. This role involves developing programs that promote student health and wellness while managing the department''s budget and vendor relationships. This is a 12 month position with an expected start date of October 26, 2026. Salary ranges from $90,000 to $125,000 based on experience in an educational agency with a full benefit package.

Department Leadership and Strategic Support:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the School Nutrition Department through meaningful engagement of key stakeholders.
  • Support and bring together nutritional leaders toward a common strategic goal and mission.
  • Oversee all staffing responsibilities.

Fiscal Management and Revenue Generation

  • Ensure fiscal responsibility, oversee vendor management and department budget.
  • Find innovative pathways to increase revenue for the School Nutrition Department.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Manage all DPI school meal program contracts, revenue, reporting.

Program Development and Advocacy

  • Be an advocate for the health and nutritional needs of HSSD students to ultimately foster their education.
  • Develop best-in-class programs that support in-school health and wellness, as well as community outreach.

Compliance and External Relations Management

  • Translate state/federal regulations into impactful services for the school community.
  • Ensure school nutrition programs are in compliance with mandated laws.
  • Act as the conduit between outside agencies and the District in relation to all school nutrition functions.
