Our client is a well-established manufacturer with a diverse portfolio of trusted consumer brands and a reputation for delivering quality, innovation, and exceptional customer partnerships. They are seeking a strategic Director of Sales to lead the commercial strategy for their wild bird seed and backyard poultry businesses, driving profitable growth across national retail, distributor, and e-commerce channels.
Some responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute the national sales strategy across branded and private-label CPG businesses.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of National Account Managers while fostering a high-performance culture.
- Build and strengthen executive-level relationships with key retail customers and drive new business opportunities.
- Lead pricing, trade investment, and profitability initiatives to maximize commercial performance.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Product Development to support business growth and customer success.
- Expand distribution, grow e-commerce, and strengthen retail and distributor partnerships.
- Deliver accurate sales forecasts, business reviews, and commercial insights to support strategic decision-making.
Some qualifications include:
- 8+ years of progressive sales or commercial leadership experience within CPG, pet, animal nutrition, agriculture, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated success managing major national retail accounts such as Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, The Home Depot, or similar retailers.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Strong background in pricing strategy, trade investment, promotional planning, and margin management.
- Track record of driving new business development, expanding distribution, and delivering profitable growth.
- Experience selling through retail and distributor channels; e-commerce experience is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
