Are you a proven sales leader who knows how to grow a technical business, build lasting customer partnerships, and develop high-performing teams?

SGL Carbon is looking for a Director, Regional Sales - Americas for our Expanded Graphite business. In this key leadership role, you will greatly support the commercial performance of the region, lead our Technical Sales and Customer Service teams, and translate our global business strategy into measurable results across the Americas.

You will combine strategic leadership with direct customer engagement, working closely with customers and colleagues across Product Management, Operations, Controlling, and other regions.

What youll do

• Own regional sales performance for our Expanded Graphite portfolio across the United States, Canada, Latin America, and South America.
• Translate global business priorities into regional sales, pricing, and market strategies and lead their execution.
• Set ambitious but achievable sales targets and translate them into clear objectives for the regional team.
• Drive profitable growth by actively managing price, volume, product mix, gross profit, and commercial risk.
• Build a strong understanding of our markets, competitors, customers, and applications, and turn those insights into commercial opportunities.
• Drive our pull-through and value-based selling approach, particularly in chemical, petrochemical, and power generation applications.
• Develop trusted, long-term relationships with strategic customers and end users.
• Partner with global Product Management to bring regional customer and market requirements into global product and business strategies.
• Work closely with Operations and Controlling to optimize profitability while supporting effective utilization of our manufacturing capabilities.
• Maintain effective management of accounts receivable and commercial risk.
• Continuously improve sales processes, tools, and systems and support consistent global standards.
• Lead, coach, and develop a regional team of Technical Sales and Customer Service professionals.

What were looking for

You are a commercially driven leader who is equally comfortable discussing strategy with senior decision-makers and technical requirements with customers and internal experts.

You bring:

• A masters degree or equivalent advanced degree in a technical, engineering, scientific, or business-related field.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including at least five years in technical sales or a comparable commercial role.
• Experience working successfully in a complex, international business environment.
• Strong commercial judgment and excellent negotiation skills.
• Proven communication and leadership capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to understand complex technologies and turn technical capabilities into compelling customer value propositions.
• The ability to collaborate effectively across functions, countries, and cultures.
• This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.

Experience with advanced materials, graphite, sealing technologies, chemical processing, energy, or other technically demanding industrial markets would be valuable.

Our Expanded Graphite business serves more than 10 industries with a broad portfolio that includes flexible graphite products, bipolar plates, carbonized fabrics, yarn products, and graphite powders. Success requires more than traditional account management. It requires technical understanding, close collaboration with customers, and an ability to coordinate commercial activities across countries, production sites, and sales regions.

As Director, Regional Sales - Americas, you will have meaningful influence on how we go to market in the region. You will help shape regional priorities, strengthen strategic customer relationships, develop the capabilities of your team, and contribute the Americas perspective to our global business strategy.
