The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership role for a proven sales executive ready to lead the commercial strategy of an established and growing distribution organization. The Director of Sales & Marketing will oversee outside sales, business development, technical sales support, and marketing initiatives while driving revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion.

 

The successful candidate will inherit a capable team and will be expected to evaluate, develop, and strengthen the commercial organization to support future growth objectives. This individual will bring strategic vision, accountability, and operational discipline while creating alignment across sales, marketing, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

 

Revenue & Business Growth

  • Own annual revenue and gross margin objectives
  • Develop accurate forecasting and pipeline management processes
  • Drive profitable growth through strategic pricing and value-based selling
  • Lead new business development while expanding existing customer relationships

 

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of outside sales professionals and commercial specialists
  • Evaluate organizational capabilities and make talent development or staffing decisions as needed
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures
  • Recruit and retain high-performing sales talent
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and customer focus

 

Commercial Strategy

  • Refine territory alignment and account segmentation strategies
  • Identify new market opportunities and growth initiatives
  • Translate strategic objectives into measurable field execution
  • Maintain strong customer and market engagement to provide valuable commercial insight

 

Marketing Leadership

  • Oversee marketing initiatives that support business development and customer retention
  • Align campaigns, digital presence, and messaging with overall commercial objectives
  • Partner with executive leadership on brand positioning and go-to-market strategy

 

Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a key member of the leadership team
  • Contribute to strategic planning and organizational initiatives
  • Represent the voice of the customer within executive decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with operations and other functional leaders to ensure alignment between commercial commitments and operational execution

Qualifications

 

Required

  • Demonstrated success leading outside B2B sales organizations
  • Experience owning revenue growth and gross margin performance
  • Strong forecasting, pipeline management, and strategic planning skills
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing sales teams
  • Experience building sales budgets and executing growth strategies
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and unify teams

 

Preferred

  • Experience within industrial distribution, manufacturing, or technical B2B markets
  • Familiarity with industrial products, equipment, or engineered solutions
  • Experience leading organizations through growth or transformation initiatives
  • Marketing leadership or oversight experience
  • Experience managing through changing economic or market conditions
