Job Title: Director of Safety and Environmental HealthJob Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Safety and Environmental Health to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and to foster a safe and healthy work environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
• Oversee completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
• Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
• Conduct employee training on applicable safety standards and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates.
• Review accident and incident reports.
• Conduct inspections to identify health and environmental risks and draft inspection reports.
• Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and schedule routine inspections.
• Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Maintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
• Review workers" compensation claim forms and evaluate injury reports to assess compensation.
• Approve medical treatment, hospitalization, and surgery related to workers" compensation.
• Coordinate payment of medical bills, disability compensation, and death benefits.
• Maintain records, files, and databases of claims; prepare summary reports of collected data.
• Provide client companies and employees with information and training regarding workers" compensation benefits.
• Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master's degree desirable.
• Ten years of related experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable OSHA standards.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ISNetworld, and other EHS & Worker's Comp software.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of applicable workers compensation laws, procedures, and regulations.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certifications preferred: EHS, OSHA, CESCO, ISO, Train the Trainer.
• Experience in construction or manufacturing safety management preferred.
• Experience with risk management and site safety.

Work Environment

The majority of the work is conducted in an office environment outside of the fabrication shop. The role requires regular travel to active field job sites, including exposure to varying weather conditions and construction environments. The position requires comfort with working at heights, capable of climbing structures exceeding 65 feet while following all applicable safety requirements. The role involves frequent sitting, squatting, talking, and hearing, with occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Candidates must have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Travel once a month is required, particularly within the first year to build relationships with field teams. This is a Permanent position based out of Sioux Falls, SD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
