    Description

    We are searching for a Director of Safety for a privately-held construction company with over four decades of experience as a prime general contractor and subcontractor. They provide new construction, building renovation, and additions projects for Industrial, Commercial, Institutional, and Government users. They offer general contracting services utilizing traditional delivery methods: design/build, design/assist, CM, and design/bid/build and have been doing so in the Mid Atlantic for over 50 years.

    • Incident Investigation & Corrective Action

    • Compliance, Documentation & Regulatory Affairs

    • Claims & Risk Management

    • Safety Team Leadership & Department Management

    Safety Director Required Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field required.
    • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive construction safety experience, including at least 3 years in a safety director or senior safety manager role with a general contractor or specialty contractor.
    • OSHA 500 (Construction Industry Trainer) required or obtainable within 12 months of hire; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated expertise in OSHA Part 1926, EM 385-1-1, and applicable state construction safety regulations.
    • Demonstrated experience managing OSHA inspections, citation responses, and regulatory relationships.
    • Experience managing workers' compensation programs, return-to-work, and fleet safety.
    • Demonstrated experience leading structured incident investigations using recognized root-cause analysis methodology.
    • Experience managing and developing safety staff; strong coaching and performance management skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present safety data and program status to executive leadership with clarity and precision.
    • Proficiency with safety management systems; Procore Safety or equivalent preferred.
