Position Summary
The Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for optimizing revenue cycle performance, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. This position will lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to patient financial services, while driving operational efficiencies and supporting organizational financial goals. Additional responsibilities include staff leadership and development, budget preparation, and detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties
Comprehensive knowledge of Patient Financial Services (PFS) operations, including billing, collections, cash posting, and reimbursement processes. General understanding of patient registration, finance functions, data processing, and daily cash reconciliation activities.
Demonstrated ability to monitor, analyze, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), while developing and implementing corrective action plans to address performance gaps and drive operational improvement.
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to patient accounting, including Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and other third-party payer guidelines, regulations, and reimbursement methodologies.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with executive leadership, department managers, physicians, staff, patients, and members of the public.
Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply information from financial reports, contracts, policies, regulatory guidance, and legal documents to support informed decision-making.
Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in resolving complex issues. Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and innovation in developing solutions where limited precedent or guidance exists.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize competing responsibilities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.
Results-oriented leader with a demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, improve revenue cycle performance, and support organizational financial objectives.
Ability to identify process improvement opportunities, implement best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the revenue cycle function.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to assess data, identify trends, and develop strategic recommendations to enhance departmental performance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and operational needs.
