Summary:
The director of radiology provides administrative, clinical, and operational oversight of radiology services at the designated entity, while also providing health system-level modality leadership based on operational needs. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient Radiology services in alignment with the One Penn Radiology vision and the organization\'s mission and goals. This role ensures safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care through standardized practices, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and collaborative leadership.
Responsibilities include oversight of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, DOH, FDA, HIPAA); workforce management encompassing recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, performance management, leadership development, and staff retention; and operational management including policy and procedure development, staffing and scheduling, daily operations, payroll, vendor management, equipment evaluation and procurement, and staff education.
The incumbent is accountable for maintaining efficient, cost‑effective delivery of Radiology services, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and patient monitoring activities across inpatient and outpatient settings. Working in close partnership with Medical Directors and enterprise stakeholders, this leader supports research activities, implements CEQI and performance improvement initiatives, and ensures continuous accreditation readiness. Fiscal responsibilities include capital and operating budget planning and variance management in partnership with the Administrative or Senior Director, with a focus on cost containment and continuous improvement.
