    Responsibilities

    Position Summary

    The Director of Surgical Services has 24-hour leadership and operational oversight for OR, Pre-op, PACU, and cath/ep lab, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. This role is responsible for clinical excellence, employee engagement, physician collaboration, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth.

    Working alongside executive leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams, the Director fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence while supporting the hospital's mission and long-term goals.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing perioperative leadership team and clinical staff.
    • Oversee daily operations to ensure exceptional quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
    • Partner with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership to optimize surgical services and enhance the physician experience.
    • Drive operational excellence through effective staffing, scheduling, productivity, budgeting, and resource management.
    • Monitor quality metrics and implement process improvements that enhance patient outcomes and department performance.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
    • Support employee engagement, professional development, succession planning, and talent retention.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards.
    • Collaborate on strategic initiatives that support the growth and future direction of Surgical Services.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Arizona or eligible for Arizona licensure).
    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
    • Progressive nursing leadership experience in perioperative services.
    • Demonstrated experience managing clinical operations, quality initiatives, staffing, and financial performance.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
    • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
    • CNOR or other relevant specialty certification.
    • Experience leading multidisciplinary surgical teams in an acute care hospital.
