Director of Philanthropic Partnerships

Position Summary:

The Director of Philanthropic Partnerships is responsible for advancing the mission of The Dallas Foundation through the development of new donor relationships and strategic fund development. This is a development position focusing on new donors while deepening relationships, understanding donors’ interests, growing philanthropic investments, and inspiring lifetime engagement. The role also plays a key role in serving as an ambassador for the foundation in the community to attract and steward new donors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must demonstrate proficiency in fulfilling each essential duty and responsibility.  These include the following:

Identify, qualify, and cultivate new prospective donors through strategic prospect research, networking, referrals, and community engagement.

• Build meaningful relationships with new audiences and individuals who have the capacity and affinity to make significant philanthropic investments.
• Develop and execute personalized cultivation strategies that move prospective donors from initial engagement to deeper involvement and, ultimately, major gift conversations.
• Expand the organization’s donor pipeline by developing relationships with emerging philanthropists, community leaders, professional advisors, and other influential connectors.
• Collaborate across the organization to create compelling opportunities for prospective donors to learn about the mission, experience the impact, and identify areas of shared philanthropic interest.
• Build strong, trust-based relationships with a portfolio of donors, prospects, and their families.
• Inspire and guide donors toward increased giving.
• Ensure The Dallas Foundation meets the highest standards of customer service by providing prompt responses and accurate information to assist donors, fundholders, and professional advisors.  
• Cultivate multigenerational engagement, encouraging family philanthropy.
• Demonstrate an understanding of planned gifts and complex non-cash gifts.
• Stay current on trends and best practices in Family and Next Generation philanthropy. 
• Represent the Foundation externally at speaking engagements, professional organizations, conferences, fundraising events, and seminars.
• Support and attend The Dallas Foundation events.

 Qualifications:

• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and customer relation database systems 

 Education/Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field from four-year college or university required  
• At least 10 years related experience
• Proven success in development and relationship focused roles
• Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) certification preferred

Work Environment:

The Dallas Foundation supports a hybrid work environment where all employees are expected to work in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays, with optional remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Microsoft Office applications form the primary digital workplace along with Foundant Technologies’ CommunitySuite, Grants Lifecycle Manager (GLM), and Scholarship Lifecycle Manager (SLM).
