    About the Opportunity

    large, rapidly growing Southern California hospital is seeking a Director of Perioperative Services to lead OR, PACU, ASC, GI, and SPD operations. This is a comprehensive, multi-specialty facility recognized with an “A” grade in patient safety by The Leapfrog Group and backed by a powerhouse CNO and executive team known for collaboration, transparency, and clinical excellence.

    The CNO—a dynamic, values-driven leader who previously worked in consulting—has helped shape a culture rooted in accountability, equity, and shared vision. She partners closely with a seasoned CEO from a for-profit system (HCA) who understands operational discipline while championing high-quality patient care. Together, they have built a strong, clinically-focused leadership team that empowers department leaders to drive meaningful change.

    This is the ideal opportunity for a seasoned California Perioperative Director (or a strong, ambitious Manager ready to step up) who can hit the ground running, shift culture toward collaboration, and standardize processes across service lines.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide operational and clinical leadership for OR, PACU, ASC, GI Lab, and SPD.

    • Standardize policies, processes, and perioperative workflows across departments.

    • Build a culture of teamwork, transparency, and equitable collaboration between nursing, physicians, and support teams.

    • Partner with infection prevention and environmental services to ensure compliance with AORN, ASHRAE, CMS, and National Patient Safety Goals.

    • Oversee budgets, staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization to ensure efficiency and ROI.

    • Collaborate with physicians to improve block utilization, robot use, and pre-surgical readiness (H&P, labs, patient prep).

    • Mentor managers and staff to foster accountability, innovation, and shared ownership.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s in Nursing required; Master’s preferred.

    • Current California RN license, BLS, and Fire Card.

    • 5+ years of recent perioperative leadership in an acute hospital setting.

    • Strong understanding of AORN standards, CMS compliance, and regulatory readiness.

    • Proven ability to lead diverse surgical teams through culture change and process improvement.

    • Exceptional communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
