Job Summary

Children's Hospital of Michigan is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Neuropsychologist to provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation and clinical support across multidisciplinary specialty programs. This role supports a high-demand patient population with complex neurological and medical conditions and plays a critical role in advancing neuropsychology services within a large academic children's hospital.

The Licensed Psychologist is responsible and accountable for the delivery of hospital-based psychological services. Specific responsibilities include psychological assessment, crisis intervention, neuropsychological assessments, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, attendance at team/family conferences, collaboration with interdisciplinary team members and physicians, and documentation. Other responsibilities may include participation in performance improvement or other hospital committees, adherence to hospital and department goals/objectives, policies and procedures, and professional standards of practice and ethics.

Clinical Services

  • Conduct outpatient and inpatient neuropsychological evaluations for pediatric patients (ages 2-21)

  • Assess and manage patients with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Acquired neurological conditions

  • Epilepsy and epilepsy surgery candidates

  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)

  • Stroke and sickle cell disease

  • Neuro-oncology and neurosurgical conditions

  • Brain infections and metabolic/toxic conditions

  • Provide consultation and follow-up care through specialty clinics, including:

  • Concussion Clinic

  • Epilepsy Surgery Clinic

  • IBD Clinic

  • Participate in inpatient rehabilitation assessments and support early recovery evaluations

  • Perform or support specialized procedures, including electrical stimulation mapping

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Serve as the dedicated Neuropsychologist for key treatment programs, including:

  • Epilepsy and Epilepsy Surgery

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

  • Neuro-Oncology and Tuberous Sclerosis services

  • Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation teams, and specialty providers to guide patient care and treatment planning

Program Leadership & Administration

  • Provide leadership as Director of Neuropsychology Services
  • Co-direct the Neuropsychology Internship Training Program
  • Contribute to departmental strategy, program growth, and service development
  • Support administration of the Behavioral Psychology Unit
  • Manage patient referrals, including triage of community and internal referrals

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee Neuropsychology Lab operations, including:

  • Equipment procurement and maintenance

  • Patient scheduling and workflow coordination

  • Referral triage and case management

  • Manage administrative and billing processes related to neuropsychology services

Education & Supervision

  • Serve as faculty within the CHM Psychology Training Program
  • Supervise neuropsychology trainees and psychologists as needed
  • Support ongoing professional development and mentorship

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Psychology; Graduate degree.

Qualifications

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology with specialization in Neuropsychology
  • Completion of APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Clinical Neuropsychology preferred
  • Experience in pediatric neuropsychology strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary clinical teams

Experience:

Required: Internship and/or clinical experience in Rehabilitation Psychology/Behavioral Medicine/Health Psychology and Neuropsychology

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in neuropsychological assessment, with a strong focus on pediatric populations

  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations across a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Epilepsy and epilepsy surgery candidacy

  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)

  • Stroke and acquired neurological conditions

  • Neuro-oncology and complex medical comorbidities

  • Experience working in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including acute care and rehabilitation environments

  • Proven ability to support multidisciplinary clinical teams and contribute to integrated care planning

Certifications:

Required: Licensed psychologist. Additional certification(s) per governing board and in accordance with the facility Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology with formal specialization in Neuropsychology
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Clinical Neuropsychology (ABPP) strongly preferred
