Job Summary (List Format): Director of Patient Access
- Provides strategic and operational leadership for Patient Access services across the health system.
- Ensures timely, accurate, efficient, and patient-centered access to care.
- Optimizes front-end revenue cycle performance.
- Oversees hospital registration/admissions, emergency department registration, pre-registration, insurance eligibility and benefits verification, prior authorization, financial clearance, patient estimates, financial counseling, point-of-service collections, and related activities.
- Establishes standardized processes and performance expectations for Patient Access operations.
- Ensures accountability and consistency across all Patient Access functions.
- Collaborates closely with Revenue Cycle, Finance, Clinical Operations, Case Management/Utilization Management, IT, Managed Care, and leadership from hospital and ambulatory settings.
- Leads initiatives to improve operational KPIs and front-end revenue cycle outcomes.
- Manages and develops Patient Access teams, including managers and supervisors.
- Responsible for achieving both operational and financial objectives related to patient access and revenue cycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required (or equivalent education/experience); Master's degree preferred.
- 7 10 years of progressive experience in Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, or healthcare operations.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience, including leadership of managers or supervisors.
- Strongly preferred: Experience managing Patient Access in an acute-care hospital or multi-site health system.
- Demonstrated expertise in registration, insurance verification, authorization, financial clearance, patient estimates, financial counseling, and point-of-service collections.
- Proven track record of improving operational KPIs and revenue cycle outcomes.
