PD-320 1 08/24/2022 NOTICE OF VACANCY DEPARTMENT: Administrative and Operations Teams CLASSIFICATION: Administrative Staff REPORTS TO: Director of Finance LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Not applicable. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Possess High School Diploma or GED.

  1. Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or a minimum of five years experience in plant engineering, or previous service as director of buildings and grounds preferred.

  2. Effective communication and interpersonal skills required.

  3. An exemplary attendance record is required. POSITION GOAL: Manage school operations including facilities and grounds, and transportation. Serve as co-chair of the safety committee providing leadership in school safety. Work cooperatively with all administrative staff to ensure an efficient and effective operation. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

  4. Direct supervision of the custodial, maintenance and transportation staff, to include recommendations for hiring, assignments and employment terminations.

  5. Train staff in appropriate procedures for safe and efficient operation of equipment.

  6. Coordinate in-service training and staff development for the operations department; conduct training programs for the re-licensing of driving staff.

  7. Plan and schedule all maintenance and grounds work including snow removal.

  8. In cooperation with the Director of Finance, develop the annual operations and maintenance budget.

  9. Prepare specification for custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment.

  10. Establish and maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance and long- term maintenance programs.

  11. Develop and maintain historical maintenance database of all mechanical equipment.

  12. Maintain current files and records of building plans and specifications.

  13. Conduct regular inspections of all facilities and confer with building administration and custodial/maintenance staff to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained. JOC Approved 8.24.2022 Agenda Item 12.D.2.C

  1. Direct the safety function within the overall system insuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations (i.e., asbestos, ADA, hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, Right-To-Know, etc.); develop and maintain a safety plan and crisis intervention plan; co-chair a system-wide environmental, safety and health committee.
  2. Develop and maintain the school's security, fire alarm and time clock systems.
  3. Direct the school emergency closing process.
  4. Serve as liaison between architects, construction manager, contractors and administration for construction projects.
  5. Monitor energy conservation and effectiveness utilizing computerized energy management system.
  6. Supervise the transportation function ensuring the most cost-effective system and the safety of all students and staff; develop and monitor a plan for the timely upgrade of the transportation fleet.
  7. Comply with all laws, regulations and board policy regarding school transportation operations. Keep current on these laws and notify the appropriate personnel about information affecting the school transportation operation.
  8. Maintain safety standards in conformance with all local state and federal laws and insurance regulations. Develop programs to promote safety.
  9. Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required reports and maintenance of records.
  10. Develop and recommend policies and procedures relative to areas of responsibility.
  11. Other related duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis by the Director of Finance and/or designee.
