    Director of Operations 

    About 5K Power 5K Power is a multi-disciplinary electrical solutions company operating across four business units: Electrical Prefab, Skidding, Temp Power Solutions, and UL Manufacturing. The company designs, builds, and delivers prefabricated electrical assemblies, skid-mounted equipment, temporary power solutions, and UL-certified panels to keep construction and industrial projects safe, efficient, and on schedule.

    Position Summary The Director of Operations provides strategic and day-to-day leadership across all four 5K Power business units. This role ensures safe, high-quality, and on-schedule production and service delivery company-wide. Overseeing unit managers and leads, the Director drives budgeting, staffing, continuous improvement, and cross-functional alignment to support company growth and customer commitments.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operational Leadership & Multi-Unit Strategy

    • Provide strategic direction and cross-functional leadership across Electrical Prefab, Skidding, Temp Power Solutions, and UL Manufacturing.

    • Oversee and empower unit managers, leads, estimators, and QA/QC teams to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety goals.

    • Maintain consistent operational standards, processes, and communication across all business units and facilities.

    • Represent operations in executive leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, and key customer/vendor relationships.

    Budgeting, Supply Chain & Resource Management

    • Develop and manage annual operating budgets, capital expenditures, P&L, and cost-control initiatives.

    • Partner with sales, estimating, and project management to align production capacity and staffing with the sales pipeline.

    • Oversee procurement and supply chain strategies to optimize material availability, vendor performance, and costs.

    • Lead workforce planning, hiring, training, and development across operational teams.

    Process Improvement, Compliance & Safety

    • Establish and track operational KPIs, including throughput, on-time delivery, quality, safety incident rates, and labor efficiency.

    • Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize shop capacity and efficiency.

    • Implement equipment, process, and facility upgrades to scale capabilities.

    • Ensure company-wide compliance with NEC, UL 508A, OSHA, and applicable industry codes while building a strong safety culture.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Experience: 8+ years of progressive operations or manufacturing leadership, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role (Director, VP, or General Manager).

    • Multi-Unit Leadership: Proven track record managing multiple business units, production lines, or facilities with measurable performance improvements.

    • Financial & Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with P&L management, budgeting, cost control, and applicable codes (NEC, UL 508A, OSHA).
    • Industry Background: Direct experience in electrical prefabrication, industrial manufacturing, or construction services.
    • Skills: Strong team-building skills, strategic planning, problem-solving, and proficiency with ERP/production tracking software and MS Office.

    Preferred:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations management, or equivalent practical experience.

    • Methodologies: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement frameworks.

    Physical Requirements

    • Split between an office setting and regular time on industrial shop floors across facilities.

    • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods, navigate manufacturing environments, and travel between sites as needed.
