Job Details
The Director of Nursing will oversee all nursing operations and provide leadership to the clinical team while ensuring resident care meets established clinical, regulatory, and quality standards. This individual will work closely with facility leadership and the interdisciplinary team to support positive resident outcomes and a strong culture of accountability and teamwork.
Responsibilities
* Provide overall leadership and direction for nursing services and clinical operations
* Lead, mentor, and develop RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nursing leadership staff
* Ensure residents receive high-quality, individualized, and compassionate care
* Oversee nursing staffing, scheduling, and appropriate clinical coverage
* Monitor resident outcomes, changes in condition, care plans, and clinical documentation
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations and standards
* Oversee quality assurance, performance improvement, infection prevention, and resident safety initiatives
* Participate in and prepare the nursing department for regulatory surveys and audits
* Identify opportunities to improve clinical processes, quality measures, and resident outcomes
* Partner with the MDS team to support accurate assessments, documentation, care planning, and reimbursement processes
* Oversee the hiring, orientation, training, performance management, and ongoing development of nursing staff
* Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy, social services, administration, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
* Maintain open communication with residents and families and assist with addressing clinical concerns
* Monitor nursing policies and procedures and ensure consistent implementation throughout the department
* Promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability, resident safety, and quality care
Qualifications
* Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain
* Previous nursing leadership experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a similar healthcare environment
* Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or comparable leadership experience preferred
* Strong understanding of long-term care regulations, clinical documentation, and quality standards
* Experience leading and developing nursing teams
* Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to effectively manage multiple clinical and operational priorities
* Commitment to resident-centered care and continuous quality improvement
