    What you'll do:

    • Supervise nursing staff — oversee RNs, LPNs/LVNs, CNAs, and other nursing personnel.
    • Ensure quality resident care — monitor residents' conditions, treatments, medications, care plans, and changes in health status.
    • Manage staffing — create schedules, ensure adequate nursing coverage, handle call-outs, and participate in hiring and onboarding.
    • Develop and monitor care plans — ensure individualized care plans are accurate, updated, and followed.
    • Medication management — oversee medication administration practices and address medication errors or concerns.
    • Regulatory compliance — ensure the facility follows federal and state regulations, including CMS and state Department of Public Health requirements.
    • Quality assurance/performance improvement (QAPI) — monitor falls, pressure injuries, infections, rehospitalizations, medication errors, and other quality indicators and implement corrective actions.
    • Infection prevention and control — oversee infection-control practices, outbreak response, surveillance, and staff education.
    • Staff education — provide or coordinate training on clinical procedures, policies, infection control, resident rights, emergency procedures, and other required topics.
    • Incident management — investigate and follow up on falls, injuries, medication errors, abuse/neglect allegations, and other significant incidents.
    • Documentation — ensure nursing documentation, assessments, progress notes, medication records, and other clinical records are accurate and completed on time.
    • Physician and family communication — coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
    • Survey readiness — prepare the nursing department for state and federal surveys and address deficiencies when identified.
    • Emergency preparedness — ensure nursing staff are prepared for emergencies, disasters, evacuations, and changes in resident condition.
    • Budget and supplies — help manage the nursing department's budget, equipment, and medical supplies.
    • Performance management — evaluate nursing staff performance, address disciplinary issues, and recognize strong performance.
    • Resident rights and dignity — ensure residents are treated respectfully and receive care consistent with their preferences and rights.
    • Leadership — participate in facility leadership meetings and work closely with the Administrator, Medical Director, Social Services, Rehabilitation, Dietary, Activities, and other departments.

    Requirements

    Director of Nurses Qualifications:

    • Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
    • 5+ years experience as a DON.
    • Compassionate and dedicated to improving the lives of our residents.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Flexibility to work different shifts.
    • A commitment to providing top-notch patient care.

    Benefits

    Director of Nurses Benefits:

    • Compensation: $155,000 - $165,000
    • Weekly pay
    • Paid Vacation and PTO
    • Health, Dental, and Vision (75% paid by the company)
    • 401K (with match)
