A Director of Neonatal ICU is needed at a tertiary/quaternary combined pediatric and adult hospital in Denver, CO. The campus includes a dedicated pediatric hospital and is home to a Level IV NICU serving the region's most critically ill neonates — including those with advanced respiratory needs, prematurity, and surgical conditions — alongside a lower-acuity NICU focused on feeding, growth, and discharge readiness.
The role. Reporting to the ACNO or CNO, this director holds full operational responsibility and accountability for care delivery across a 40-bed Level IV NICU, leading a team of approximately 60 FTEs. The director works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team — including close coordination with the Level II NICU — to drive an integrated model of person-centered care, establish and uphold clinical practice standards, and ensure compliance with quality, licensing, and accreditation requirements. A strong focus on continuous improvement is central to this role: the director promotes evidence-based practice, measures budgetary performance, and partners with the ACNO to advance systematic operational improvements. The director may also provide direct patient care when clinically needed.
